HOLLYWOOD VINE WINE TASTING
Tuesday March 7th 2016
6-9 Pm No charge for Tastings

2016 BUITENVERWACHTING Constantia Bayten Sauvignon Blanc
Coastal Region, South Africa
This is refined, with a steely spine that lets gooseberry, verbena and white peach flavors streak through. A hint of shortbread adds range and mouthfeel along the edges. The long finish has lovely cut. 92 Pts Wine Spectator
BTG $6.75 Retail $14.99

2015 A A Badenhorst Family Secateurs Chenin Blanc
Swartland, South Africa
Brightly defined, with delicious quince, persimmon and green almond notes forming a core that is threaded with quinine and white ginger details. A light touch of toast on the finish lets the fruit and minerality play out.. 90 Pts Wine Spectator
BTG $7.00 Retail $15.99

2014 Aia Vecchia Lagone
Tuscany, Italy
The 2014 Lagone is opulent and fruit-forward with dark currant and ripe cherry, followed generously by spice, leather and chocolate. It’s very appealing, and its bouquet is well put together. In the mouth, Lagone (60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc) reveals medium-bodied intensity with a moderate finish. This is a great choice for informal foods like pasta or wood-oven flatbread. It sees 12 months of oak. 89 Pts Wine Advocate
BTG $7.00 Retail $15.99

2013 Bodegas Breca Old Vines Grenache
Calatayud, Central Spain
(made from the property’s oldest vines, which were planted between 1925 and 1945): Vivid ruby. Sexy, mineral-laced aromas of fresh red berries, candied flowers and Asian spices, with a hint of cola in the background. Sweet, concentrated and seamless, offering intense raspberry and cherry compote flavors and a touch of vanilla. Clings with impressive authority on the finish, which features supple tannins and lingering floral character. This wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks, then went through malolactic fermentation and 21 months of aging in used French oak barriques. 91 pts Vinous
BTG $7.00 Retail $15.99

2014 Chateau Puech-Haut Cuvee Prestige
Languedoc, France
A terrific value, the 2014 Languedoc Cuvee Prestige checks in as a blend of 55% Grenache and 45% Syrah that’s brought up all in tank. It has tons of Mediterranean character in its sweet dark fruits, lavender, damp earth and peppery herb-laced bouquet. This gives way to a full-bodied, sexy, layered 2014 that has plenty of fruit, fine tannin and a hedonistic style that’s just hard to resist. It’s another outstanding vintage for this cuvee that’s well worth a multi-bottle purchase.
