2016 De Wetshof Robertson Limestone Hill Chardonnay
Breede River Valley, South Africa
Heavy clay soils rich in limestone allow this Chardonnay to emit optimum varietal expression in a cloak of rich complexity. An un-wooded wine, Limestone Hill has notes of grapefruit and nuts, with the complexity balanced by a nuanced elegance ending with a delicate ripeness.
The American critic Robert Parker describes this wine as such: “The De Wetshof Estate Limestone Hill Chardonnay never sees oak, and offers impeccably pure, refreshing apple, peach and lemon fruit, a lovely leesy richness of texture, and a nutty, chalky, fruit-filled finish of imposing length. Understated and less tropical than some of the better un-oaked Chardonnays, this wine possesses far better balance and sheer drinkability – not to mention more finesse – than 99% of the world’s Chardonnay I have experienced.” 90 Pts Wine Spectator
BTG $7.00 Retail $15.99

2013 Bodegas Abanico Creta Roble
Ribera del Duera, Spain
A custom cuvée from importer Eric Solomon. Made from 60-plus-year-old vines from an area of Ribera del Duera known as La Horra (Pingus and Aalto emerged from this area as well). This expansive, savory, complex, deep ruby/purple red wine shows notes of new saddle leather, black and red currants, has a savory, medium-bodied expansive mouthfeel, with loads of black fruits, licorice, subtle smoke and earth. This is a lovely, sexy, opulent style of wine to drink over the next 4-5 years. 91 pts Robert Parker
BTG $7.00 Retail $15.99

2012 DOMAINE LE COUROULU Vacqueyras Vieilles Vignes
Southern Rhône
Delicious, with energetic bitter plum, currant and boysenberry coulis flavors that race along, with mouthwatering black tea and singed mesquite notes. A pleasant iron hint underscores the finish, giving the fruit extra time to play out. 91 Pts Wine Spectator
BTG $11.00 Retail $27.99

2014 Vina Cobos Felino Cabernet
Mendoza, Argentina
An exquisitely balanced cabernet sauvignon to be highlighted. Its spicy and fruity character outstands. The intense ruby red color anticipates a complex, appealing wine. On the nose, the freshness of the red fruit and the herbal notes like freshly cut grass complements the spicy notes of black pepper, clove and cinnamon, as well cedar and tobacco. Great freshness on the palate, good acidity, sweet tannins and great intensity for a very well-integrated wine with a persistent finish. 91 pts SK
