2013 Mastroberardino Irpinia Aglianico RediMore
Campania, Italy
Represents a special selection of Aglianico biotypes from pre-phylloxera vines that are up to 140 years old. The 2013 vintage presented this year is a very special expression of Aglianico with an extremely floral character. The bouquet shows pressed rose, spice, dried violets and moist chewing tobacco. The wine is engineered for near-term consumption (with softer tannins) although this vintage should continue to evolve over the next five years.
91 Pts Wine Advocate
BTG $9.25 Retail $22.99

Michel Gassier Nostre Pair Red
Languedoc Roussillon, France
This is a Châteauneuf du Pape look-alike. Made from 45% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Carignan, 10% Mourvèdre and the rest Cinsault, it saw a long maceration and slightly more oak than normal due to the higher acidity that was common in the vintage. Roasted herbs, licorice, black raspberries and toasted spices are some of nuance here, and it’s medium to full-bodied, mouth-filling and textured, with sweet tannin. It’s a sexy, gorgeous wine to drink over the coming 4-5 years. 92 Pts Wine Advocate
BTG $8.25 Retail $19.99

2011 Marques de Grinon Single Vineyard Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon
Castilla-La Mancha , Spain
Intense, direct aromas of blackberry, cassis and graphite are bold but not overly complex. This is so large and extracted on the palate that the tannins grind. Ripe blackberry, cassis and a hint of salt fill the flavor profile, while this finishes fat, tannic and with flavors of licorice and blackberry.

2013 Conundrum Red 25th Aniversary
Rutherford, Ca
Both serious and playful, this wine fits the bill. A rich, dark red, it offers aromas of ripe berries and plums, warmed by a hint of cocoa. Dried fruit and the taste of chocolate-covered cherries come through on the palate, while a wisp of smokiness makes this wine – created from dark red varietals including Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. Tannins are rounded out by the ripeness of the berries for a texturous but smooth mouth feel. The finish makes us think of lingering at the end of a long evening and still not wanting to go home, with layers of rich flavor that teasingly trail off.
