2013 Henri Bourgeois “Barrones” Sancerre
Loire Valley, France
The lime-green 2013 Sancerre Les Baronnes is a modern classic of the region and a good example to demonstrate the polished aromatic yet authentic, pure and elegant style of Henri Bourgeois’ wines. Sourced from chalky clay soils of the hills separating Sancerre from Chavignol this medium-bodied, juicy yet minerally structured and zesty Sauvignon from 20-to 40-year-old vines offers attractive white fruit flavors intertwined with piquant citrus aromas and dusty chalk flavors. This is a very pleasant, well-balanced, already accessible and stimulating Sancerre of good intensity and quality with lovely citrus flavors also in the finish and aftertaste. 90 pts Wine Advocate
