2013 Novy Zinfandel
Sonoma ,Russian River, Ca
A blend from three renowned sites for Zinfandel – Limerick Lane, Carlisle and Papera. At $20.00 a bottle, it’s a steal. The wine shows loads of briary blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, Asian spice, incense, licorice and roasted herbs. It’s ripe, full-bodied, with terrific fruit intensity and purity. The acidity brings everything into focus and gives the wine a zesty, powerful mouthfeel. 91 Pts Robert Parker
BTG $9.50 Retail $24.99

NV Marietta Christo Lot 3
Sonoma/Mendocino, North Coast, California
A hedonistic blend of Grenache, Syrah, Petite Sirah and a touch of Viognier to uplift the aromatics. This is, again, aged in neutral oak for two years and a blend of three vintages: 2011, 2012 and 2013. A wine of exceptional purity and intensity and plenty of character, as this one is 70% Syrah and the rest the other three grapes. It tips the scales at a lofty 15.3% alcohol, but it’s well hidden behind a cascade of blackberry and cassis fruit, roasted meats, steak tartare, licorice and Provençal herbs. It’s a big boy, and that’s exactly the way they want it. 91 Pts Robert Parker
BTG $7.75 Retail $18.99
