2013 Siduri Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands
, Monterey, Central Coast, California
The 2013 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands has come on like gangbusters since I tasted it from barrel last year. It gives up lots of blackberry and darker styled fruits, mint, cloves, crushed rock and underbrush to go with a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, fruit-loaded style on the palate. Possessing beautiful fruit and no hard edges, it represents a killer value in Pinot Noir and should drink nicely for 4-5 years.

2013 Domaine Lafage Tessellae Vieilles Vignes
Languedoc Roussillon, France
A custom cuvee and joint venture with importer Eric Solomon, the 2013 Tessellae Vieilles Vignes is 100% Carignan and comes from 70-year-old vines and the schist soils of Maury and Les Aspres. It is an off-the-charts value that offers up thrilling notes of black raspberry, chocolate, graphite, tar and licorice to go with a voluptuous, decadent, yet seamless and gorgeously pure feel on the palate. Seriously, this wine is smoking good and should thrill for 4-5 years, if not longer. Just pretend you paid more for it. 94 Pts Wine Advocate

2011 Domaine Giraud Chateauneuf du Pape les Premices
Chateauneuf du Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone, France
From the estate’s younger vines in Chateauneuf du Pape (around 50 year-old vines) and a new cuvee, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Premices is a blend of 100% Grenache that’s aged one-third in 225-liter French oak barrels and the balance in concrete tank for one year. Gorgeous all around and made in a friendly, seamless style that’s hard to resist, it possesses a translucent ruby color that’s followed by a perfumed array of kirsch, raspberry, flowers, and red licorice. Incredibly pure and smooth, with no hard edges and a silk-like texture, it stays light and elegant on the palate and is a joy to drink. It should drink nicely for 5-8 years. Drink now-2019.
