2013 Substance Cabernet
Columbia Valley, Washington
This is about as good a value in Cabernet as you’re likely to find. Coming from sites spread throughout the Columbia Valley and aged in barrel, it offers terrific notes of currants, black raspberry, wild herbs, graphite and toast to go with a medium to full-bodied, ripe, concentrated and balanced style on the palate. While it’s hard to resist now, it’s no simple fruit bomb and has the depth and class to evolve nicely for at least 4-5 years, and most likely longer. 90Pts Wine Advocate

2012 Perez Cruz Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Estate
Maipo, Chile
Aged in French barrels for one year. In this warm vintage they harvested three weeks before the normal date by tasting the grapes and without knowing it, they ended up harvesting at more or less the same amount of accumulated temperature as in previous years. It has a fresh, herbal, aromatic nose with notes of spices (paprika, black pepper) and pine nuts, with bright red fruit. Fluid, terse, and medium-bodied, with good freshness and very fine tannins, this is a great Cabernet at a great price. 90 pts Robert Parker
