Scotch Tasting
Friday October 24th 7pm-9pm
$10 (includes a $10 credit for any retail purchase)

We would love for you to join us for a scotch tasting at Hollywood Vine on Friday October 24th from 7pm-9pm. We are excited to have David Ortiz pouring some wonderful and new to us scotch selections. David is one of South Florida’s top mixologists with 30 years experience as a spirit specialist. This guy knows his stuff and will be here to answer all of our questions and educate us on the wonderful world of scotch. The cost for this tasting is $10 and will include a $10 credit towards any retail purchase the night of the tasting, October 24th.

David will be pouring:

Isle of Arran Distillers: Arran 14 Year : A perfectly balanced marriage of both first fill Sherry and Bourbon casks and is a righly rewarding Single Malt with depth of character and zest. Nose: starts malty and clean but quickly there’s a burst of fresh fruits: citrus, peaches, caramelized apples, some melon and berries. Nice hints of buttercups in the background. Hints of sweet oak with whiffs of vanilla and coconut as well, very rounded and really nice. There’s a nice interplay between sherry and bourbon influence. It doesn’t need water, but a few drops make the citrus stand out. Mouth: creamy attack, also more oak than expected. Malty center with hints of citrus and pears. Obvious vanilla. Developing more spicy notes towards the end, nutmeg and light pepper. Finish: medium length, slightly biscuity with barley sugar and lingering spices.
Kilchoman Machir Bay 2013 : A vatting of 4 and 5 year old ex-bourbon casks, with the 4 year casks being finished in Oloroso sherry butts for 4 weeks prior to bottling. The Machir Bay range is Kilchoman’s core expression, first launched in 2012 when it won the prestigious IWSC 2012 Gold Medal – Best in Class. Bottled once a year, each release contains more mature whisky each year allowing Kilchoman fans to follow the development of the unique Kilchoman malt as it matures. The color is light beech. Nose: Soft cooked fruits with strong peaty aromas.Palate: Soft mixed fruits and vanilla with an intense sweetness. Finish: A Classic islay malt now showing the benefit of additional ageing. A long lingering finish.

The Lost Distillery Company: Gerston Deluxe, Blended Scotch whiskey : The Lost Distillery Company is an independent boutique Scotch Whisky company with a mission to create present day expressions of legendary whiskies that belonged to the craft of whisky distilling almost a century ago. To craft Gerston Deluxe Blended Malt the Master Archivist pieced together the story of how Gerston Malt whisky tasted when it was last distilled in 1914. The whisky makers then married fine single malts with unique flavor profiles to achieve their goal. Aroma: Light, with notes of malt, sultanas, allspice, hard toffee and smoke. On the Palate: Smooth and sweet. Finish: Smoky.
