2013 A to Z Riesling
Has fresh aromas of citrus, tangerine peel, ripe melon, sea shells and white flowers. Time in glass reveals aromas of pear, white raisin, lemongrass, guava and kiwi. The aromas carry through to the attack with citrus, wet stone and raspberry. The acidity on the mid-palate is balanced by a hint of sweetness. The finish is long and clean with lingering flavors of lime and wet stone. Complete, complex and beautiful.
BTG $6.75 Retail $15.99

2013 Juan Gil Dry Muscat
Jumilla, Spain
Green-tinged straw. High-pitched citrus and pit fruit aromas are complicated by notes of white pepper and candied ginger. Sappy, penetrating and intensely fruity, yet dry, offering fresh nectarine and orange flavors and a touch of bitter pear skin. Closes spicy and very long. 90 Pts Stephen Tanzer
BTG $6.25 Retail $13.99

2013 Bodegas Atalaya Laya 70% Garnacha and 30% Monastrell
Almansa, Spain
Has a superb bouquet of pure dark cherries, blackberry and incense that would normally grace a wine far more expensive. The palate is medium-bodied with layers of succulent black fruit that is neatly entwined with the subtle French oak. It is not a complex wine, but it is supremely well-crafted for the unbeatable price. 90 Pts Wine Advocate
BTG$5.50 Retail $10.99

2011 Selvapiana Chianti “Ruffina”
Tuscany, Italy
Ruby-red. Redcurrant, plum and cinnamon on the fruity nose. Fresh and juicy, with ripe red cherry and spicy raspberry flavors given clarity and cut by lovely mineral tang. This outstanding everyday Chianti finishes smooth and long. 90 Pts Stephen Tanzer
BTG $7.75 Retail $18.99

2011 Stolpman Vineyards Syrah Estate Grown
Santa Ynez Valley, California
Fresh dark red-ruby. Slightly reduced aromas of black raspberry, smoky minerals, plum sauce and smoked meat, plus a hint of purple fruits. Then densely packed, vibrant and savory, with superb energy and acid cut to the sweet dark fruit, flint, violet, pepper and fresh herb flavors. A very juicy, penetrating style of syrah, and very 2011 in character, not to mention Cote-Rotie-like. Finishes with verve and aromatic persistence. Ridiculously underpriced. 92Pts Stephen Tanzer
BTG $10.50 Retail $27.99
