2011 Tenuta Sant’Antonio Scaia Rosso Corvina
Veneto, Italy
Pure expressions of Corvina are increasingly common in Valpolicella and the 2011 Corvina Scaia provides an exceptional portrait of this indigenous grape variety. The wine exhibits a bright ruby color with purple and garnet highlights. On first nose, the dusty mineral notes are what make the biggest impression. Flint and brimstone slowly give way to small berry fruit, wild raspberries and white cherries. The wine wins high points for drinkability and overall freshness. It immediately evokes excellent food pairing possibilities. 90+ Pts Wine Advocate
BTG $6.50 Retail $14.99

2010 Bodegas Hermanos Perez Pascuas El Pedrosal Tempranillo
Ribera Del Duero, Castilla Leon, Spain
It has an attractive bouquet with bright red fruit: maraschino and fresh strawberry infused by a touch of orange sorbet. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There is a touch of dark chocolate interwoven through the fleshy red berry fruit, leading to a harmonious finish where the American oak leaves a touch of mocha on the finish. This is a well-crafted. 90 Pts Wine Advocate
BTG $9.50 Retail $24.99

2010 LaMadrid Reserve Malbec
Mendoza, Argentina
Spent 12 months in a mix of new and used French oak. Underbrush, mocha, espresso, floral notes, and assorted black fruits are followed by a dense, rich powerful wine with 2-3 years of aging potential. This spicy effort is another outstanding value from Lamadrid that over-delivers in a big way. 90+ Wine Advocate
