HOLLYWOOD VINE WINE TASTING
Tuesday, July 17th, 2012
6:00-9:00 PM
No charge for tastings

2008 Gramona Cava Grand Cuvee
This is basically the equivalent of a grower sparkling wine in Spain. A low dosage is based on a solera system going back to 1870! Composed of Chardonnay and Xarella, it exhibits crisp, minerally notes intermixed with hints of orange rind, brioche and lemon zest, light to medium body, and a chalky character. Cavas have come of age and are better than ever, and this impressive, boutique version is well worth trying. It should provide pleasure for several years. 90 pts Wine Advocate
BTG 9.00 Retail $22.99

2010 Palazzone Terre Vineate Orvieto
The 2010 Orvieto Classico Superiore Terre Vineate (Procanico, Grechetto) is a clean, mineral-driven, focused wine of notable pedigree. It shows marvelous energy in its tightly-coiled, bright fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2016. 90 pts Wine Advocate
BTG 6.00 Retail $14.99

2010 Herencia Altes Garnacha
Bright ruby. High-pitched aromas of raspberry and floral oils, with a note of white pepper gaining strength with air. Juicy, precise red and dark berry flavors show impressive depth and clarity and gain flesh with air. Finishes sweet and long, with lingering red fruit notes and no rough edges. This is an outstanding value. 90 points Stephen Tanzer
BTG 5.25 Retail $10.99

2009 Lamadrid Bonarda Reserva
The 2009 Bonarda Reserva was sourced from the same estate single vineyard and aged for 12 months in 50% new and 50% second-use French oak. Notions of damp earth, brier, spice box, leather, plum, and mulberry set the stage for a savory, flavorful, impeccably balanced Bonarda that over-delivers in a big way. Drink this outstanding value from 2012 to 2017. 91 pts Wine Advocate
BTG 7.25 Retail $17.99

2004 Ch. Lillian Ladouys St. Estephe
A wonderful nose of chocolate, spices and fruit. Full-bodied, with a lovely core of ripe fruit and velvety tannins. Hard not to drink this now.
