Wine Tasting 3/22

Posted in Hollywood Vine Events, Uncategorized by hvine on March 17, 2011 No Comments yet

The next tasting is dedicated to winemakers and wineries that walk in the latest trends in the wine world either with an extraordinary and refreshing blend as is the case of Ferrari Carano and its Bella Luce or the Generation Red of Hitching Post; or the sourcing of the best possible grapes from Monterrey and Napa  from the same people that produce Betts & Scholl, CC Winery and an exuberant and elegant Pinot from the Willamette Valley by Pali. All these wines are great, fun and affordable. Cheers!

Ferrari Carano Bella Luce, 2009

Chardonnay, Muscat Canelli, Semillon, Muscat Giallo, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Riesling. 100% Stainless Steel .

A fragrant and light white wine blend from varietals that would complement one another in aromas, flavors and texture. Bella Luce accomplishes this with delicious layers of peach, vanilla and floral aromas, and wisps of orange blossom, pear and lime. Distinctive and round on the palate, Bella Luce’s flavors of cream, vanilla, citrus, and apple shine through.

BTG $6.50                                          Retail $16.99

CC The Chardonnay, 2009

“We have found a really exciting possibility with some vineyards down near Monterey where the days are cool and the fog plentiful. The aesthetic for the wine is one of freshness, of unbridled fruit and of zippy personality. This should be the white wine we all just reach for casual, easy, refreshing. It is produced entirely in stainless steel which allows the fruit to shine unfettered and without the burdensome oak that plagues too many a chardonnay. With something this palate-pleasing, one can refresh often.”

BTG $ 6.00                                        Retail $15.99

Pali Alphabets Willamette Valley Pinot Noir , 2009

Aromas of sweet heirloom melon, wild field berries, earthen notes of beet and sandalwood touched with steely notes of iron and lime introduce the 2009 Alphabets.  A rich velvet palate wrapped in a penetrating red currant and dried cherry core accentuated with savor porcini mushrooms mimics/reveals the warm and intense 2009 Willamette vintage.  Lingering with pleasing, long and focused mouth feel.

BTG $ 8.50                                         Retail $21.99

Hitching Post Generation Red  , 2009

“GEN RED” contains grapes from several Santa Barbara vineyards: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah from Alisos, Merlot from McGinley and Buttonwood. Also included here are Cabernet Franc and Valdiguie from the French Camp Vineyard in San Luis Obispo County. The Cabernet Franc adds the intense aromatics, the Merlot adds body and roundness, and the Syrah and Valdiguie add color, richness, and fruitiness.”

BTG $ 7.75                                         Retail $20.99

CC The Cabernet, 2007

In 2007 we have found ourselves with the unique opportunity to work with one of the world’s most special vineyards and wineries. We are not allowed to tell you exactly who, but we can say it comes from the world-class hillsides above one of those quaint little towns along highway 29 in the Napa. The wine is first class, serious and special cabernet AND it costs a very small fraction of what the much fancier wines of the neighborhood cost. In fact, we dare you – put it up against your favorite cabernet, put it up against Opus One (no, this is not from Opus) and you decide which is better. We feel confident we’ll crush it!”
